Christian Youth Club
4-H Tech Wizards
Established August 2014
What is CYC?
CYC is a Christian youth club serving 3rd - 12th grade students in Rogers, Tx. We are a non-profit, non-denominational, Bible-based club, focused on sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His love for all people.
How did CYC Come to Be?
The First Baptist Church, a local church in the center of the Rogers community, hosts Wednesday night services beginning with a family meal at 6:00pm. Many students were arriving at the church unattended, hours before the meal started. Church members saw a need to provide supervision and activities with these students, so they reached out to find volunteers to organize an after school club. A group of 5 church members, 3 community members, and 4 student mentors came together and created the club. The club provided snacks, games, songs, homework help, Bible teaching, and other activities every week.
How did CYC become connected with 4-H Tech Wizards?
Mrs. Donna Lawless, club director/mentor/church member/and Program Assistant for Texas A&M Agrilife, applied for a 4-H grant to be able to provide more enriching activities for our students. In the fall of 2014, we received the Tech-Wizards grant providing us with funds and resources to include STEM activities, projects, field trips, camps, and county fair participation.
What are the grant requirements?
In order to be in compliance with the grant, we must make sure:
All students are registered through 4-H.
Weekly programming includes STEAM activities. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.
Attendance sign in sheets are filled out and turned in weekly.
Student surveys are conducted 3 times a year.
Monthly reports are written detailing activities of the program.
